Bombay Quagmire

How's this for a gut punch? Your employer ships your job off to a bunch of lackeys in India, and he asks you to fly there to train them. That's the premise of the John Jeffcoat-directed Outsourced, in which a manager for a novelty company is sent to a small town outside Bombay to teach call-center workers how to sell rednecks everything from foam cheeseheads to hot-dog cookers. Meanwhile, he finds out his students need lessons in American culture, things like it's better not to refer to pencil erasers as "rubbers." But he learns a few lessons himself, all while living the life of a corporate whore who can't find a hamburger or a roll of toilet paper in a foreign land. The screen lights up at 9:25 tonight at the Cleveland Cinematheque, 11141 East Boulevard. Tickets are $6 to $8. Call 216-421-7450 or visit www.cia.edu/cinematheque.
