Border Lines

by

Growing up, Mexican-American comic Al Madrigal never really knew his heritage. “My dad wanted to make me as white as he possibly could,” he says. “Now I find myself dark, living in Los Angeles with no Spanish speaking skills whatsoever.” Still, Madrigal says he’s coming to terms with his roots -- but it’s kinda hard. “You know you’re a half-Mexican when you walk into a place and go, ‘Wow, this is a lot of Mexicans,’” he says. “Half of me is the only white guy here.”
