To be a fisherman by trade, you have to be a natural gambler who sees your work through rose-colored Ray-Bans. Otherwise, you'd live in the fear of failure, injury, even death. That's the message in Time Bandit: Two Brothers, the Bering Sea, and One of the World's Deadliest Jobs by Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand. The brothers prove their point on the Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch, in which producers track up to 10 boat crews on the Bering Sea during Alaskan king and Opilio crab fishing seasons. To viewers' amazement, the Hillstrands face 60-foot waves, 80-mile-per-hour winds, frigid gales, and massive ice floes as they maneuver 1,000-pound steel traps on their family-owned boat, Time Bandit. Since its 2005 premiere, the program has reeled in four Emmy Award nominations in the Outstanding Nonfiction Series category. The Hillstrands sign their book at 7 tonight at Joseph-Beth Booksellers, 24519 Cedar Road in Legacy Village in Lyndhurst. Admission is free, but a line number is required.
