CD Review: Davey Porter and the Young Republicans

Mistakes Were Made

Music often comes with political undertones, but rare is the band that takes such a blatant comedic approach as Davey Porter and the Young Republicans do. They do it well, and they do it with a transparent disregard for anyone's feelings on songs like "Napalm Sticks to Kids," "Who Would Jesus Bomb," and "Get Back in the Kitchen." Porter and his punk trio are unapologetically offensive, roasting nearly every aspect of society. Nearly lost among all the jokes is the fact that they're also a great band — they just happen to make you laugh and squirm along the way. — Steve DiMatteo
