Center Stage

Jason Sage's concert tonight marks a homecoming of sorts for the Florida transplant. A graduate of Hudson's Western Reserve High School, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter stops in Cleveland to perform songs from his debut CD, Leaving Myself Behind, and reminisce about his school days. "I remember driving through Peninsula with my dad on Sunday afternoons," he recalls. "I know this sounds strange, but I deeply miss how Ohio smells in the fall." Since August, Sage has been touring the eastern states. Along the way, he's discovered the pitfalls of traveling solo — from playing in nearly deserted bars to scraping up enough money to pay for gas to get from town to town. Still, he makes the best of it. "I want my shows to feel like we're sitting in a living room and trading life stories," he says. Sage goes on at 8:30 p.m. at the Barking Spider, 11310 Juniper Road.
