Chef Jam 2012 at the Rock Hall

When: Sun., June 10 2012

It’s been four years since chef Steve Schimoler hosted the first Chef Jam for a couple hundred foodies in the Beachland Ballroom parking lot. At the time, Schimoler — chef, drummer, and co-owner of Crop Bistro — saw it as a way to leverage Cleveland’s rep as the rock and roll capital into greater recognition for our rockin’ food scene. Today, the thousands of foodies who flock to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum for this year’s Chef Jam will mainly see it as just one heck of a good time. The drill is simple: Beginning at 7 p.m., nearly two dozen local restaurants start serving up samples of rock-themed treats: ZZ Top Eliminator Empanadas from Prosperity Social Club, say, or Sammy Hagar Mas Tequila Burgers from B Spot. Beer and wine flow like water; Bonnaroo stars Ivan Neville and Dumpstaphunk lay down modern funk from the stage; and all the Rock Hall exhibits are open for your perusal. It all makes for the perfect union of tasty licks and gourmet eats: In other words, proof that Cleveland’s food really does rock. Tickets are $65 at the Rock Hall box office and via the website but be warned: If you wait till the last minute to snag them, they’re likely to be gone, baby, gone.

Price: $65
