Baseball might be America's pastime. But cornhole is about as all-American as you can get. At least that's what Wags4Kids director Wendy Nelson thinks of today's Winter Cornhole Championships, which will benefit her organization — a nonprofit that pairs trained dogs with disabled kids. She'll even play a recording of the national anthem before the action starts. "It's America!" she exclaims. "It's like the friggin' World Series!"As two-player teams compete by throwing bean bags through holes in the middle of tables, they prime themselves the way that hardcore cornhole pros do: They chug a lot of $2 cups of brew to wash down the $1 franks. "It wouldn't be a cornhole tournament without the beer," says Nelson. "We had a tournament in May, and two 14-year-old boys almost won. I told their fathers that as soon as they learned to drink, they could really win this thing. Obviously, that's what was holding them back."
