I like that thinking and it reminds me of one of the first things Blatt ever said to me as part of a presser. He said, "you can never defend the pick and roll just one way." I suppose the same goes for offense. the ability to allow your team to play a certain way. However, and both Blatt and James Jones were very resolute about this -- you don't change the main principles with which you play. They clearly did after the trade, and with that found a style that suited them -- funnel to the big and defend the 3 HARD. It's obviously not uncommon and works when T-Mo's in there defending the rim or Thompson defending the arc on switches depending on which way they wish to lean. But that flexibility stands in marked contrast to how Thibodeau and Budenholzer's teams looked, right? I mean when they couldn't do their "thing" they really didn't have a lot of answers. (Obviously that's partly on Blatt.)
Sorry Ray, I didn't analyze the game at all. I was analyzing this tiny incident that the media blew up into this big stupid controversy and why it's not and why they would do that. You may or may not be interested in it, I certainly think it's a stupid thing to talk about, but there's a lot to say about why it happened and certainly there are more than a handful of bloviators and talking heads wiling away the hours talking about this, so consider this an tonic for several strains of the HateBlatt Flu.
They - the Cavs- expected a foul - by Chicago - on the inbounds play - so -- apparently -- they didn't feel any need to have any movement -- which is to say there were no cuts , picks screens or other action.
Why did they run the same lame play twice? Can't say. Then the next time when they throw it in, they throw it to Lebron in the upper right corner pinned to the sideline. Why would you do that? Everyone knows that's no way to stand because it allows an easy trap.
I guess LeBron and Cavs thought he would get fouled not trapped (?) strange.
These oil & gas exploration companies can't afford to drill right now because oil's too cheap. Break even is at least $50/barrell in Marcellus. It's a complete box of BS they're selling. North Dakota didn't figure in the infrastructure costs right ; have $1 billion in revenue next 2 decades & $7 billion in costs. Never get over how often govts allow themselves to be taken. Thankfully we haven't sold our parking meter money like Chicago which now boasts North America's most expensive parking meters. Skepticism about private companies doing business with the public should be de rigueur
History may not repeat, but it sure does rhyme, sayeth Twain, and it certainly seems true of Tom Culkar, who apparently was involved in something similar with Sushi Rocks, just two years ago prompting a suit by the DOL over.... wait for it.... unpaid wages.
You look at those 8 years of drafts in Oakland and he was TERRIBLE. Beyond Jamarcus Russell, he rarely scored on ANY of his picks and it's not like his players became good elsewhere they sucked because he can't evaluate talent. All so Banner can work with his old butt buddy from the '90s. Pathetic. And I suppose we're stuck w/Banner for the foreseeable future?
