City of Women

When: Thu., June 9 2016

Federico Fellini's 1980 film City of Women centers on Snàporaz (Marcello Mastroianni) a middle-aged man whose world turns upside down when he finds himself in world dominated by aggressive women. New York Times critic Vincent Canby describes it as "spell-binding" and says it's "a dazzling visual display that is part burlesque, part satire, part Folies-Bergère, and all cinema" in his review. At 6:45 tonight and at 3:30 p.m .on Sunday, the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque screens a new digital restoration of the movie. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
