The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, now in its 26th season, performs its second Severance Hall concert of the 2011-12 season on Sunday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. James Feddeck, music director of the Youth Orchestra, will begin the concert with Anatoli Liadov’s Ballade, followed by Edward Elgar’s Variations on an Original Theme (“Enigma” Variations), Opus 36. After intermission, the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra will perform two works, joined by the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus (prepared by its director, Frank Bianchi): Gabriel Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine and Francis Poulenc’s Gloria for Soprano Solo, Chorus and Orchestra. The soprano soloist for Poulenc’s Gloria is Marian Vogel. Ms. Vogel has performed leading roles with Cleveland Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Lyric Opera Cleveland, Akron Lyric Opera Theatre, and Opera Western Reserve in addition to concert and recital appearances. She made her Cleveland Orchestra debut in the role of a Milliner in performances of Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier in June 2007. Each of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra’s concerts this season is to be broadcast on later dates by WCLV 104.9 FM. The March 11 concert is scheduled to be broadcast at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2012, and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012.
