Cloud Nothings/Protomartyr/Two Hand Fools

When: Thu., Aug. 22, 9 p.m. 2013

The steady build-up during “No Future/No Past” is a terrific introduction to Cleveland’s own Cloud Nothings (though “Fall In” is probably the access point du jour). With a budding national presence, the band is sorta hailed as one of the north shore’s indie success stories. That makes shows like tonight’s Beachland event buzz with the heady emotions of homecoming. Last year’s Attack on Memory garnered alternating praise and disappointment from fans the band had picked up along the way. Some heard growth, while others heard statis. Scene called it “turbulently schizophrenic” at times, and that’s part of the charm, really. (Check out “Understand At All” from the debut for a sense of frontman Dylan Baldi’s sonic origins.) However you slice the music, those with the ticket are in for a good time tonight. (Sandy)

Price: $12 ADV, $15 DOS
