Nestled within 78th Street Studios, Blank Canvas Theatre has quietly been putting on tremendous theatre programming for the past couple of years. With campy musicals, dynamite plays and regular sketch comedy, it has become one of the best venues for live entertainment in town. Tonight marks the opening of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the classic novel turned movie turned play, about a mental institution and the rebellious new patient McMurphy (immortalized by Jack Nicholson on the silver screen) who rallies his fellow patients to take on the the cruel head nurse. All your favorite characters and high mental-illness drama in the intimate Blank Canvas space. This one’s gonna be a heavy hitter — don’t miss it.
