Culture Clash

When: Wed., Dec. 11 2013

The building of the Olympic Stadium in China for the 2008 Olympics was a mammoth undertaking that required tens of thousand of tons of steel. Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron worked with famous Chinese artist Ai Weiwei to design it. In Bird's Nest: Herzog & de Meuron in China, directors Christopher Schaub and Michael Schindhelm provide a behind-the-scenes look at the planning that went into the construction project. The film focuses on the ways in which cultural differences had to be put aside in order for the stadium to be built. The film screens tonight at 7 at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets are $9.
