TOP PICK

Starbuck

(E1 Entertainment)

While an American version of this French-Canadian version is already in the works, we’re guessing it won’t top the original. Patrick Huard plays Starbuck, a destitute guy who’s donated countless sperm over the years in the attempt to make ends meet. When a lawyer comes to him with a class action lawsuit that his “kids” have filed, Starbuck must make a decision about whether or not he wants to make his identity public. Funny and touching, the film strikes the perfect balance between comedy and humor.

Gogol Bordello

Pura Vida Conspiracy

(Casa Gogol)

The self-proclaimed group of gypsy punks don’t deviate from the tried-and-true on this album of new material. The disc commences with the rousing “We Rise Again” and then never lets up. These songs will sound great when the madcap band plays ’em live.

Guy Clark

My Favorite Picture of You

(Dualtone)

The veteran Texas singer-songwriter is in fine form on this new album, his first studio release in four years.
