Seasonal Special Happenings

Dancing Days

When: Fri., Aug. 16, 7 p.m., Sat., Aug. 17, 7 p.m. and Sun., Aug. 18, 2 p.m. 2013

Dance is a special and unique form of artistic expression that can be beautiful when it’s done right and evokes a round of Simon Cowell-like criticism when it’s done wrong. Your dance experience doesn’t have to be limited to reality shows such as Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance; Cleveland provides many opportunities to see live choreography. This weekend, you can catch three distinct performances at the 11th annual GroundWorks Summer Series in Cain Park. Associate director Amy Miller will present her newest work, “Way Leads To Way,” tonight at 7. It’s inspired by the potential kinetic energy she saw stored in old clocks. Executive artistic director David Shimotakahara’s “Before With After” premiered back in 2003; a new version of the piece will be performed at 7 tomorrow night. “My Hummingbird at the High Line,” by two-time Bessie Award-winner Doug Elkins, will be the featured performance on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $27.50.
