Seasonal Special Happenings

Dead on Arrival

When: Thu., Aug. 1, 7:30 p.m. 2013

For the past two years, Fathom Events, a national company that sponsors special one-night only screenings, has shown a Grateful Dead film from the archives. This year's offering is Sunshine Dream, reportedly "the most requested release of the band's entire career." Recently restored to HD, the film captures a benefit concert the band played in 1972. The set list includes tunes such as "Bird Song," "Dark Star" and "Playing in the Band," and the film includes interviews with participants such as Ken Babbs, Sam Cutler and Wavy Gravy. It shows at 7:30 p.m. at area theaters. Tickets are $12.50. Go to for more info. (Jeff Niesel)
