People are still plenty upset about thirteen Cleveland Police officers killing Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell with 137 bullets, without cause. So many comments from the public addressed the "Cleveland Atrocity" at a Cleveland Safety Committee meeting on May 29 in the Glenville neighborhood that Cleveland Councilman Jeff Johnson put a gag order on any further criticism of Police Chief McGrath and the CPD.
I was next in line to speak and wanted to present a stack of petitions calling for a federal investigation of the 'atrocity,' and the recusal of Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty from the case. Councilman Jeff Johnson decided that I would not be allowed to speak and violently snatched the public microphone from my hand, striking me and breaking the microphone.
Chief McGrath was there and witnessed the councilman's threats to the audience and his asault on me. McGrath was silent.
Thirteen killer cops are the ones who should be terminated; McGrath and Safety Director Martin Flask should be investigated for their role in the November 29 slayings, and the Cleveland Police Union should stand down.
Prosecutor McGinty has ignored the calls by nearly 1000 citizens for his recusal from the Cleveland Atrocity case, as he has ignored my report of the Glenville incident.
The 13 Cleveland police officers who shot 137 bullets killing two unarmed African-Americans, Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell should also be fired.
