Father’s Day weekend kicks off with an expo dedicated to the favorite tool in his kit: duct tape. For the ninth year, Avon-based Duck Products presents the Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival, celebrating the company’s contributions to the region and to professional and amateur engineering. The fest shows off everything that can be done — and many things that should not be done — with the world’s most remarkable fastener. Those yearning for evening wear with the elegance of high fashion and the sturdy practicality of the workbench won’t want to miss the fashion show. Ever wanted to see sporting equipment made entirely from indestructible sticky strips? Now you can play with it. Games, carnival rides, food vendors, crafts, and a Saturday parade? All here. Besides tape geekery, you’ll find performances by Nashville artist Simba Jordan at 4 p.m., and David Letterman-featured magician Bobby Maverick at 5 p.m. Wayne’s World Band covers tunes from the 80s at 6 p.m., and 2005 American Idol runner-up Bo Bice rocks out at 9 p.m. Today’s hours are 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday’s fun runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday’s hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission, parking, and entertainment are free.
