Are you an East Sider or a West Sider? Even out-off-towners know the stereotypes: East Siders are more cultured, liberal, and diverse; West Siders are more conservative and blue collar. Today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. you can explore the origins of our division, as the Western Reserve Historical Society unveils its new East Versus West exhibit. “We wanted to explore one of the great divides in Cleveland culture and shed some light on how it came about,” says Ed Pershey, veep for collections and exhibits. Drawing on a rich collection of maps, the exhibit traces how the area became mapped out, cut up, and separated into political and cultural colonies, and how East versus West became such an important part of our identities. Admission is $8.50 for adults and less for kids, and includes all museum attractions. The exhibit continues through March 31, 2013.
