Euclid Wind Festival

You can’t see it, but wind is all around us — and might even serve as a dandy source of renewable energy. And where better to celebrate all that than at a beautiful lakefront park? That’s the thought behind the first-ever Euclid Wind Festival, home to the biggest concentration of wind turbines in Northeast Ohio “You don’t think about wind, says development director Sarah Gorsky. “You don’t see it. You take for granted. But really it’s shaping our community in a cool way.” You can dig those cool effects today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., where you’ll find a breezy collection of kites, kazoos, and wind chimes joined by vendors, food stands, music, and even a wind-inspired performance by the Tom Evert Dance Company. The festival will be full of exhibits and activities like pinwheel making. Unfortunately, the wind turbines are not visible from the actual festival setting. “The best place to see them is from I-90, and that’s a terrible place to have a festival,” says Gyorki. Instead, the fest is at Triangle Park on the Shore Cultural Centre’s grounds. It’s free.
