Food, Arts, and Antiques in Avon Lake

When: Sat., July 30 2011

With a mix of 55-plus artists, retailers, restaurants, and antiques dealers, the Summer Market in Avon Lake is like nothing else in the region. "It's not an art festival, it's not a craft fair, it's not an antique show — it's a mix of everything," says spokeswoman Erin Stack. Nestled on the shores of Lake Erie, the fest is now in its sixth year of serving up a beachy vibe complete with jewelry, antiques, baby items, bird houses, farm-fresh produce, and more. Although Stack admits the buyables take a slightly "girly" bent, tough guys generally attend to indulge in the food. This year, those edibles come from spots like Sweet Melissa (serving fish tacos), Sweet Basil (Neapolitan-style pizza), and the B Spot (with juicy sliders), along with vendors selling summer essentials like kettle corn, lemonade, and ice cream. The Market bustles today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park; find it at Route 83 and Lake Rd. Learn more at thesummermarket.com. — Kerrigan
