When: Thu., June 14, 8 p.m. 2012
Whether he’s pondering the etiquette of a barbecue, the silliness of grocery-store samples, or the deep emotional significance of tattoos, Sebastian Maniscalco has one burning question: What the hell is wrong with people? The query isn’t merely rhetorical: It’s also the name of his Showtime comedy special and DVD that dropped this past March. Along with a great head of hair, his focus on the absurdities of daily life has earned the L.A.-based comic comparisons to a young Jerry Seinfeld. Maniscalco doesn’t deny it, either: “I want people to leave saying that's so true, and really relate to my material on a personal level. I'm not up there on the stage doing brain surgery, I just want people to forget their problems for a few hours and leave happier then when they came in.” He’ll be dishing out the happy juice this weekend at Hilarities 4th Street Theatre, with six performances set for tonight through Sunday. This evening’s show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $13 to $18 by phone, online, or at the box office.
