Shot in 35mm color and scope, Gavagai centers on two couples—a German widower and his Chinese translator wife, and a Norwegian tour guide and his pregnant girlfriend—brought together by the poetry of Norwegian writer Tarjei Vesaas. The movie makes its local debut tonight at 9:30 at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, where it screens again at 7:05 tomorrow night.
