Greensky Bluegrass/Fruition

When: Wed., Sept. 18, 8:30 p.m. 2013

If it’s been too long since your last time spinning Greensky Bluegrass’ Handguns, then please do change that as soon as possible. Two years after it dropped to critical acclaim, the album remains a tidy summation of all that is good and well in the bluegrass scene. The pickin’ is spot-on in tunes like “Cold Feet,” which call to mind visions of stepping onto your Midwest cabin’s front porch in mid-winter, all steeped in snowfall and desolate memories. It’s all quite evocative stuff. And take a tour through the band’s catalog, which spans more than a decade, to find hidden treasures tucked in among the years. Live at Bell’s, the band’s first live album, is a great start. Hell, it might be a good time right now to put that one on and dig deep into the rapid-fire soul-searching of tunes like “Bont’s Breakdown.” (Sandy)

Price: $15 ADV, $18 DOS
