When Disney dropped High School Musical last year, the made-for-television movie hit like a game of pachyderm roller hockey, and its soundtrack went triple platinum. The plot rehashed your basic Romeo and Juliet scenario: Troy (Zac Efron) is a typical high school jock who ends up meeting nerd-girl Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens). Discovering they both dig singing, the pair decide to audition for the school musical, which entails breaking their respective social molds, bucking the notorious teen social system, and beating out more experienced students. Of course, squeaky-clean hijinks ensue -- so clean, in fact, that Grease feels like biting social commentary in comparison.

Now there's a nationwide tour, but mind you, this isn't a staged performance of the television musical; it's merely a showcase for many of its stars and songs, including "Breaking Free," "Stick to the Status Quo," and "Get'cha Head in the Game." What's more, main man Zac Efron is nowhere to be found (he's been replaced by singer-songwriter Drew Seeley). This leads one to assume that the tour exists only to cash in on the High School Musical mania gripping suburban developments clear across America. But good ol' Disney would never conceive of such a thing, now would it?
