Home From Home: Chronicle of a Vision

Set during the 1840s in the Hunsrück region of Prussia that will encompass the fictional German village of Schabbach and the multi-generation Simon family in the later films, Edgar Reitz's Home from Home centers on Jakob Simon, a blacksmith’s son living in poverty in the Rhineland. Winner of both the German Film Award and the German Film Critics Association Award for best film of 2014, Home from Home was shot in black and white and color and scope. it screens at 6:45 p.m. today and at 7"15 tomorrow at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque.
