Jason Oster claims he can "put Pimp My Ride to shame." As one of 420 exhibitors at this weekend's Carquest Cleveland Rod & Custom Auto-Rama, Oster will show off six cars he's souped up -- including a 2003 Hummer with seven TV sets inside. "It kicks ass," he boasts. "We just make them much, much more than what they were. It's all about having something nobody else has." Like the Parma dude who won a $45,000 makeover in a radio contest for his '81 Monte Carlo. "We put in a new engine, transmission, stainless-steel exhaust system, redid the interior, custom wheels, laid-out stereo system, and custom painting," says Ron Heitman, the show's promoter. "You'll say, 'Man! I want something like that.'" You'll also see other events geared for gearheads, like BMX demos. The Auto-Rama revs up from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cleveland Convention Center, 500 Lakeside Avenue. Wrestle Mania

Before meeting later this spring at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, the country's top college wrestlers will gather at the Convocation Center this weekend for the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals. Sixteen wrestling programs from Division I and II, Junior College, and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics ranks will compete in dual double-elimination tournaments. Representing the local wrestling scene are Cleveland State University, Baldwin-Wallace College, John Carroll University, and Case Western Reserve University's grappler clubs. Says CSU Vikings coach Jack Effner: "Anytime we have an opportunity to compete at this level, it's a positive." Go to for a schedule. Matches start at 11 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the CSU Convocation Center, 2000 Prospect Avenue. Tickets are $8 to $15; call 216-241-5555. -- Matt Leavitt

Frosty Fest

SAT 1/22

Hard to believe there'll be people celebrating cold, chilly weather at Saturday's Winterrific. But the Metroparks has lined up a day of hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, igloo-building, and ice-skating nonetheless. There will even be sled dogs giving rides. And live musicians will gather round a fire, entertaining those who prefer to keep warm. Says spokesman Bob Rotatori: "It gives people a chance to get outdoors in the winter." Like shoveling our driveways isn't enough? It happens from noon to 5 p.m. at North Chagrin Reservation's River Grove Picnic Area, south of Route 6 in Willoughby Hills. Admission is free; call 216-635-3200. -- Matt Leavitt
