Even though Cornhole Competitions have been blowing up all over the country for the past several years, the Willoughby Brewing Company is convinced that its new weekly open-play tourneys are going to be the Tuesday-night hit of the season. “We’ve seen a lot of wagering and a bit too competitive play so far,” laughs brewery spokeswoman Nicole Thomas.

The outings pretty much stick to the game play and rules everyone knows: Toss beanbags, hit holes, score! And while tons of college students line up to throw the bags each week, everyone is welcome to participate in the contests, says Thomas. “We don’t discriminate,” she says. The outings have become so popular, she says, the brewery is seriously considering expanding to league play . . . and making cornhole-stuffing more than a one-night-per-week thing. Plus, brew and food specials make it a perfect summertime destination stop. Says Thomas: “As long as people like to drink beer, play games, and have fun, we’ll keep it going.”
