South Indian musicians take on western jazz tonight in a very special show at the Bop Stop. Vocalists KN Shashikirian and P Ganesh will join violinist S Murari, pianist Leo Coach and percussionist Dylan Moffit in tonight’s concert. Included in the show will be performances of a few John and Alice Coltrane pieces, as well as reinterpreted South Indian songs. According to the Bop Stop: “The title of the concert is comes from a composition by John Coltrane. In his albums such as A Love Supreme, it is clear that Indian spirituality had a profound impact on his music and philosophy.” (Sandy)
