Inlet Dance at Cain Park

When: Thu., July 28 2011

Cleveland's passion for outdoor performance will be satisfied yet again with a free show by Inlet Dance Theatre on Thursday at Cain Park. Currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, the premier dance troupe will perform pieces that act as "snapshots of the past decade," says Inlet's founder and artistic director, Bill Wade. That includes favorites like War Effort Eves, This Could Hurt, and Create — a piece inspired by and created for a group of students, now adapted for the company. You'll see pieces choreographed for male dancers, female dancers, and full-ensemble performance, along with student dancers from Inlet's summer training programs. Wade is also planning an entirely improvisational segment — complete with improvised music and lighting. "We use dance to further people," says Wade, who puts great emphasis on education and contemporary, topic-based choreography. For those craving a pre-show drink to support the mission, check out the $30 champagne reception happening at 7 p.m. For more information, visit inletdance.org or call 216-721-8580. It all takes place at the the Evans Amphitheater at Cain Park tonight at 8 p.m. Find them at 14591 Superior Rd. in Cleveland Heights. — Lydia Munnell
