Got any idea what a roundup of 800 beers looks like? Suffice it to say, it’s eye-popping. But don’t take our word for it; check it out at the International Beer Fest, returning to the I-X Center today and tomorrow. Organizers claim it’s the largest showcase of world brews in the Midwest and, if the beer count is any measure, they ain’t lying. Tops on any beer-lover’s to-do list has to be visiting one (or more!) of the three public tasting sessions featuring those brews. Nearly every imaginable blend of hops and barley will be on hand, including drafts from locals like Hoppin’ Frog, Indigo Imp, and Great Lakes Brewery. Also featured: talks and seminars on beer-related topics, an exhibitors’ sales area, and appearances by celebrity brewers. Friday’s hours are 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday’s sessions are 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets, including select tastings, range from $45 for a single tasting session to $200 for a full VIP experience. Snag ‘em by phone or online, where you’ll also find a complete schedule.
