El Pintor (Matador)
New York- based alt-rockers Interpol haven't put out an album in four years, and in today's world, that's nearly an eternity. While band members have talked about how rejuvenated they felt while making this album, that doesn't come across on the finished product. Self-produced and recorded at Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound in New York City, the album was engineered by James Brown (Foo Fighters) and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails). Guests such as Brandon Curtis of Secret Machines, Rob Moose of Bon Iver and multi-instrumentalist Roger Joseph Manning Jr. all make appearances. But not much has changed. Songs such as "Anywhere" and "All the Rage Back Home" still evoke moody neo-industrial rock act Joy Division.
