Seasonal Special Happenings

Irish Animation

When: Fri., March 13 2015

Tomm Moore’s new Oscar-nominated, Irish-animated film Song of the Sea is firmly rooted in Celtic myth and legend — as was his previous Oscar-nominated film The Secret of Kells. This beautiful, hand-drawn and traditionally animated film follows two children, Ben (David Rawle) and Saoirse (Lucy O’ Connell). They live in a lighthouse by the sea. Saoirse is the last of the selkies, women in Irish and Scottish legends who transform from seals into people. Follow Saoirse and her brother Ben on their journey tonight at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at 7:30. The film screens again on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $9. (Harp)
