“Jack & The Bear: Saving lives every day.” That’s the band’s motto as it encourages people who feels mainstream electronic music is crap without any heart or soul to come and see a live performance. They may just be right. The band’s style is a refreshing blend of gritty vocals and foot stomping folk with a tinge of indie rock. “Back To Despair” is the best example of the style as the group’s music video features them all playing the song acoustically essentially with just an accordion, a box and a guitar in what appears to be a well or some large cylindrical structure. The group started in Michigan but in its early days spent plenty of time in Toledo, eventually moving more into the Ohio Valley. Tonight they’ll be joined by She Bears, an equally refreshing indie rock group that’s poised to impress. (William Hoffman)
