Thanks for the inside story Ms Pantsios. It reads like a script's summary aching to be made into a great play, like life mimicing art and great liturature: like the story of Joseph and his hating, lying brothers who sold him into slavery, delivering him to destiny.
I challenge the Karamu Board of Directors to use its authority to protect, proclaim and even expand the mission and vision of this precious jewel at the corner of East 89th & Quincy Avenue. Karamu has been an oasis of culture, art and education to a countless number of people who've grown up in the Fairfax neighborhood, fledgling artists of all races and creeds from all over Cleveland and Cuyahoga County and I'm not just talking about the known stars Karamu has birthed and nurtured over the years.
Mr. Spivey, as Artistic Director, must be given the priority and tools he needs to continue his artistic acheivements. The theatre arts is Karamu's primary identity.
Did you say Karamu is approaching its centennial existence? The year 2015? Karamu board, act upon your authority to assure Karamu's glory continues to bless this city another 100 years.
