When: Nov. 12-13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 2016
For the first time at the Morgan, you can learn about the traditional processes involved in making Japanese-style papers by hand. We will cover all of the steps to prepare for a day of papermaking including how to steam, strip, scrape, cook and beat kozo fiber that was harvested from the Morgan’s urban garden. You will also have the option to help during the Morgan’s annual Kozo Harvest over the course of the weekend. After parting and drying your sheets, you will leave with a stack of beautiful, translucent paper made and processed entirely by hand. No prior experience required.
