The Channel 5 story barely scratches the surface. Newburgh Heights is notorious for police harassment.
I myself was stopped, ostensibly for a tail light. I was then made to do the tightrope walk and take a breathylizer. I blew a .02, well below the legal limit. But they still refused to let me go. They first called in an ambulance to check my blood sugar level. Then they brought in another officer, who started giving me the third degree on the spot. ("DID YOU TAKE ANYTHING ELSE? DID YOU TAKE ANYTHING ELSE? DID YOU TAKE ANYTHING ELSE? ") I asked if I was under arrest, and if I could talk to a lawyer. They would not give me a straight answer. Finally they placed me under arrest and took me to Bedford Hospital for a blood draw. They impounded my car, and I was not able to get my license back for three months, until I had my day in court. I ended up pleading no contest to physical control, just to get my car back. It cost me more than $1000 in court costs, impound fees, and drunk camp, all for doing nothing illegal.
Trevor Elkins has no business running for County Democratic chair until he gets his own house in order. And it should come as no surprise that he's being represented by the same slimeball attorney who sold out the Q referendum campaign.

So it's okay to use Native Americans as mascots for extortion?
