Jerrod Niemann

When: Mon., Dec. 17, 8 p.m. 2012

Singer/songwriter Jerrod Niemann appropriately describes himself as a “musical chameleon.” While many country artists sometimes sound the same in every song on an album, Niemann aims to do something different with every track. His new album Free the Music showcases many different styles and instruments, including horns and acoustic bass, instruments not usually heard in country music. Free the Music combines country, rock, honky-tonk, and reggae to make a unique country album. Ballads like “Only God Could Love You More” showcase Niemann’s natural vocal talent, while other songs, like his hit single “Shinin’ on Me” show his ability to incorporate different instruments into his songs. His performance here at the intimate Dusty Armadillo is sure to be a rowdy time, and the guy is such a hoot that audience members will undoubtedly be dancing and singing along by the end of the night, especially after hearing his many drinking songs.
