If the Akron hip-hop scene was St. Vincent-St. Mary high school, then Team Tuck's Xtro would be LeBron James, a ready-to-go phenom who could be in the finals three years from now. The game jumps up three levels when he spits big-league rhymes in a deep voice, with crisp delivery that's too good for the amateur-mixtape circuit. MC-producer K.C.'s third album is a worthy showcase for him.
K.C. tries hard to be a different kind of rapper. He might be the most humble man in the biz, though not by much. "Stomp That Bitch," for example, is simply a kinder way of letting you know his crew had your girl. But misogynist and ego-driven it's not: At the end of "A Lil Bit," K.C. deflates himself in a comic serenade to Alicia Keys.
