of the Cleveland Arts Prize. At the awards ceremony, he ran into local jazz man Ernie Krivda, a friend of his who used to come to the Numbers Band’s shows in Kent in the ’70s. The two got to talking and decided it would be fun to share the stage; for this show, dubbed “Kidney & Krivda: Eyes on the Prize 2013,” Krivda will sit in with the group on select songs. “I’m thrilled,” says Kidney. “He can play anything I’ll throw at him. I’m excited to hear play and there’s plenty of room to open up on some songs. I’m sending him some files and he can pick and choose what he wants to play. If you like music that’s out of the box, it’s the show to see. If you’re into trends, maybe not so much.” Kidney says that if the show’s a success, he and Krivda might make collaborating into a regular thing. (Jeff Niesel)
