Lionize/Riptide/Gato's Gullah Gumbo

When: Tue., Nov. 6, 8:30 p.m. 2012

For the people who think that classic rock is the only kind of music worth listening to, Lionize may be a great way to break away from your Pandora playlist of music that was released no later than 1983. This band has a neo-classic rock sound on the guitars, and the keyboardist uses an old-school organ sound in nearly all the songs. The bass has a reggae influence, and when you mash it all together, people dub it “stoner rock.” But whether you’re a teenager smoking a joint in your parents’ house or an adult who feels like you’re too old for that kind of activity, Lionize has something to offer. Their latest album, Superczar and the Vulture, captures the feel the band gives when they perform live. So if you’re tired of the same rotation on the classic rock station, these guys are bound to satisfy your taste. (Sam Mendez)
