Meet the Band: Thaddeus Anna Greene (vocals and guitar), Anthony Foti (drums), and Matthew Augusta (bass).
Runs in the Blood: Greene's father ran the independent rap label Red Eye Records in the mid '90s. But classic rock struck the biggest chord. "My dad bought me [a guitar], and I sat in my room for three months straight listening to blues records," he recalls. "Then I discovered Hendrix, and my life has never been the same."
School's Out: When he was 17, Greene knew he wanted to make music after he "came to grips with the harsh reality that I had fucked everything else up in my life. I've always felt that school was beneath me. They weren't teaching me anything that I couldn't find out on my own, at my own pace."
Are You Experienced: Greene and his group just released their heavy-blues debut The Directory of Thieves. And like Hendrix's old band, they pile on the volume. "We're really loud, but we won't hurt your ears," he says. "The noise is warm and encompassing."
Why You Should Hear Them: All three members are in their early twenties, but you'd never know it from their music. They not only play classic-sounding music, they also have the chops of seasoned vets.
