Seasonal Special Happenings

Lunar New Year

When: Feb. 9-10, 11 a.m. 2013

On January 31, did you ring in 2013 with too much drunken shame, and not enough acrobats? Luckily, another calendar gives you another chance, at Asia Town Center’s Lunar New Year. Two days of celebration for the Year of the Snake kick off today, with more performances, fine dishes and chances to explore a weekend could possibly hold. Saturday will see performances and demonstrations by Rising Star Acrobatic, the Shaolin Kung Fu Institute, and Sho-jo-ji Japanese Dancers. Community members can also strive for bragging rights in an open talent show. And of course, the legendary Lion Dance will also commence both days. Fusion food truck Umami Moto, plus food vendors representing Indian, Korean, Thai and other cuisines will provide refreshment. Exhibitors from everywhere from MotivAsians of Cleveland to John Carroll University to Relax Zone will let you extend the fun—and your self-improvement projects—beyond the weekend. Festivities begin 11 a.m. today and tomorrow. (Joseph Clark)
