Man on the Moon

Singer-songwriter Gran Bel Fisher's compositions start slowly, but build to sweeping choruses. They even borrow a little from Coldplay — both the piano-driven melodies and Fisher's Chris Martin-like falsetto. He hails from small-town Sabina, which is about an hour's drive from Columbus. The music on his major-label debut, Full Moon Cigarette (which comes out next month), appropriately reflects the rustic intimacy of his hometown. Fisher is wrapping up a monthlong nationwide tour with some Midwest gigs.
