Marilyn Manson

When: Wed., Jan. 23, 8:30 p.m. 2013

One of last year’s most lucrative arena tours paired heavy metal rockers Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson together for a double billing of shock and awe. Neither artist has put out an album of any consequence in some time, but the guys have always had killer live shows that make up for the fact that their songs all tend to sound the same. With that tour in the books (and it didn’t come without any drama as the two reportedly came to blows on at least one occasion), Manson is now out touring on his own in support of last year’s new studio album Born Villain. Another raucous affair punctuated by anti-establishment tirades such as the garage-y “Hey, Cruel World” and the viscous “Pistol Whipped,” it’s more of the same from the self-described Antichrist Superstar. Even though the album didn’t generate much of a buzz, the Bowie-meets-Bauhaus first single “No Reflection” was nominated for a Grammy, and Manson, who grew up in Canton, is a hometown hero who always delivers when he’s in town.
