Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

When: Thu., June 16 2016

Branded anti-American by some in Washington when it was first released, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington has become a cult classic because of the way it satirizes American politics. James Stewart plays an inexperienced senator whose youthful idealism runs up against the corrupted chamber. It screens tonight at 8:40 as part of the Cleveland Cinematheque’s “The Republicans Are Coming” series. It will be shown again at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $10. (Wohler)
