Multiple Maniacs

When: Sat., Aug. 20 2016

Celebrated filmmaker John Waters had a taste for the offensive and downright obscene, but his most outrageous film may be one that hasn’t seen the light of day until now. Made in 1970 and starring Waters’s perpetual heroine Lady Divine, Multiple Maniacs just saw its first official theatrical release in New York and L.A. this month, and is now coming to Cleveland to dirty some minds and warp some moral compasses. The film follows Divine’s “Cavalcade of Perversions,” a traveling carnival-style sideshow with a whole host of issues beyond just what the title may suggest. It screens tonight at 8:20 p.m. and tomorrow at 8:25 at the Cleveland institute of Art Cinematheque. Tickets are $10, $7 for members. (Eli Shively)
