Nice Score

When: Thu., April 24 2014

Fasten your seatbelts, film enthusiasts. This evening kicks off the Bernard Herrmann weekend at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. All weekend long, you’ll get to see movies which the inimitable Herrmann scored. If you’re like us, you probably recognize John Williams, Howard Shore and maybe Danny Elfman and not really anyone else when it comes to the world of film composers. But Herrmann was one of the greats back in the day. Tonight’s showing, On Dangerous Ground, is a ’50s noir-thriller about a cop on the verge of a nervous breakdown sent to upstate New York to cool down. There he gets mired in a new romance and criminal case! It plays tonight at 6:45 and tomorrow at 9:30 p.m. It was reputedly Herrmann’s favorite score. Tickets are $9. (Allard)
