O'Death/Stone Jack Jones/Whiskey Daredevils

When: Fri., Oct. 10, 9 p.m. 2014

Gothic country, you ask? Sure, O’Death’s sound is unusual, but it actually kind of works. Their latest, Out of Hands We Go, takes elements of folk and bluegrass and adds in twists of dark Americana. Banjos and ukuleles punctuate the landscape of Greg Jamie’s country singing and rich guitar strumming. The track “Roam” pairs a catchy refrain of shadowy, foreboding lyrics with a vintage country beat and feverish violin. Meanwhile, “Warm Wooden Firewood” has odd influences of Simon and Garfunkel in the singing, with lyrics of doomed love and sober guitar strums. Expect stuff that’s never been heard before as they play songs off this brand new album. 9 p.m., $12. Grog Shop. (Liz Trenholme)
