When: Fri., Aug. 3, 8 p.m. and Sat., Aug. 4, 9 p.m. 2012
What’s my favorite thing about doing burlesque?” asks dancer Bella Sin. “Everything!” One of the city’s most prominent burlesque performers, Sin is the beauty and the brains behind tonight’s second annual Ohio Burlesque Festival. “We wanted to do something amazing for the city by getting people from all over to come here,” says Sin about last year’s inaugural sold-out fest, which went on to become a sell out. This year promises more of the same, with an international lineup of more than 30 dancers planning to take part. The two-day event kicks off tonight at 8 with a “secret speakeasy” party in the Warehouse District’s 620 Club, where you can mingle with the dancers and maybe even catch a surprise performance or two. Tomorrow is all about the art form, with afternoon workshops at a local hotel and the 9 p.m. main event at the Beachland Ballroom. Show tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. Get them by phone or on the website, where you’ll find lots more information.
